When to visit Ladakh — a monthly breakdown

Ladakh has one of the shortest tourist seasons in India, roughly mid-May to late October. Within that window, each month offers a completely different experience.

**June** brings the passes just after they reopen — expect snow walls higher than the car. **July and August** are warm but subject to sudden mudslides on the Manali-Leh road. **September** is our pick: clear skies, low crowds, and the barley harvest turning the valleys gold.

If you want to see Pangong when it’s a mirror, September is your month.
